The Director of Bulgaria's National History Museum, Bozhidar Dimitrov, said he was ready to become Minister of Culture in the future government of Sofia Mayor Borisov's party GERB.

"If I am ready for any position, it is exactly Minister of Culture. But of course it will be up to Boyko to decide", Dimitrov told the bTV news channel Tuesday morning.

Dimitrov, who was a long-time member of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, GERB's arch-rival, left the BSP about a month ago, and two days later was listed as a MP candidate from GERB from the "citizens' quota", i.e. as a non-member of GERB.

Dimitrov pointed out that the Minister of Culture must be not just a prominent intellectual but also a good manager.

When asked whether the GERB leader Boyko Borisov could succumb to pressure when appointing the new ministers, Dimitrov said that Borisov's GERB had 116 MPs in the 240-seat Parliament which meant that not Borisov but the other parties seeking a coalition agreement depended on him.
