Boyko Borisov, leader of the GERB party and most likely bidder to become Bulgaria's next PM, has vowed to abolish the dual citizenship.

Borisov declared Friday in Sofia that one of the first legislative measures of his party GERB in the new Parliament would be to alter the dual citizenship act so that everyone could choose what country they want to be a citizen of, and to elect its respective institutions.

The Sofia Mayor said this when asked about the issue with the vote of Bulgarian living abroad. Borisov said the three-way coalition of the BSP and DPS was using various tricks in order to "steal" 60 000-70 000 votes from GERB by depriving many Bulgarians abroad from the opportunity to vote. At the same time, it was allowing the DPS to get thousands of votes from Bulgarian expats in Turkey.

"The pseudo-majority representation is directed against GERB, and it steals 20 MPs from us with these polling sections in Turkey. This is illegal, immoral, they manipulate the vote, and then say that we need to form a government quickly after the elections. They are going to steal our majority with these manipulations. We must not keep quiet on these issues", Sofia Mayor Borisov said as quoted by BGNES.
