An exhibition, dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of the removal of the Iron Curtain and the fall of the Berlin wall, has been opened in Bulgaria's biggest Sofia University.

The exhibition has been officially presented by the deputy chancellor of the university, Nedyu Popivanov, and the Hungarian Ambassador to Bulgaria, Judit Lang.

The exhibit is situated on the second floor of the History department. It shows posters united by the slogan "Freedom and Democracy".

The Berlin Wall was built by communist authorities, and divided the city for 28 years. Its builders described it as an "anti-fascist protective barrier", and scores of people were killed by East German sentries as they tried to escape across it from east to west.
