Bulgaria Base Interest Rate Record Low

The Bulgarian National Bank determined a record low 2,24% base interest rate for July 2009.

This is a decrease of 0,11 percent points month-on-month, and is the lowest interest rate since January 2006, when it was 2,21%.

In January 2009, the base interest rate was 5,17%, but it fell to 3,49% in February. In March it was even lower - 3,49%. However in April the interest rate increased to 3,53%.

The base interest rate, determined by BNB, dramatically fell in May to 2,27%.
