The turnover of the cabs in the Bulgarian capital Sofia has decreased by over 60% in the last two moths year-on-year.

This was announced by the Chair of the National Taxi Driver Federation, Yane Yankov, the Pari Daily reported.

Taxi drivers used to get BGN 70-80 for 10-12 working hours. Now, they make BGN 40, Yankov explained.

In his words, in order to have the same income as in 2008 drivers must work 16-18 hours a day.

The federation has been informed that leasing companies have already started to take cars away from drivers who are late with their monthly payments.

Thus, the actually working cabs in Sofia are currently 1 000 less than the registered ones.
