Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (C) listens to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei during the Friday prayer ceremony in Tehran, Iran, on 19 June 2009.

Iranian Council of Guardians has confirmed the victory of Mahmud Ahmadinejad in the country's Presidential Elections after a vote recount.

After moderate opposition candidate, Moussavi, disputed the election results, supported by mass-scale rallies around the country in which at least 25 people were killed after clashes with riot police, the Council came up with a deal for a recount of the votes in randomly selected 10% of the ballot boxes.

Even though Moussavi rejected the deal, the 12-strong Guardian Council went ahead with it anyway, and after completing the partial recount confirmed Ahmadinejad as President, as announced by the Iranian state TV.
