Some two hundred fishermen blockaded with their boats part of Bulgaria's Black Sea port of Varna in protest for about one hour.

The fishermen are protesting against the inadequate policies of the Bulgarian state on in the field of fishing and aquacultures.

The fishermen also demanded that the state should recognize their fishing stations all along the Black Sea coast, and that a scandalous land swap deal be rescinded.

The deal in question favors Yavor Haytov, a former Bulgarian Deputy Minister, since the state has agreed to give him 11,4 hectares along the beach near Varna in exchange for plots owned by Haytov in the mountainous interior of the country.

The beach property allocated to Haytov in fact contains a fishing station where several hundred fishermen make their living.

The fishermen's protest has been supported by the "Sea Directorate" of Bulgaria's National Union of Transport Carriers.
