Pickpockets along Bulgaria's southern Black Sea coast have started studying English in order to target foreign tourists more easily and to "make" better money.

The news has been reported by the BGNES correspondent in the Black Sea city of Burgas, who points out that the new pickpocketing approach is underway in the Bulgarian Black Sea resorts.

According to the report, the pickpockets, almost all of whom are women, lure foreign tourists to approach them offering "sex services" with English phrases and sentences they had memorized by heart.

Once the foreign tourists fall into the trap, they get pickpocketed by two or three other girls. According to the Burgas police, the best spots for pickpockets, and respectively the spots that foreign tourists should avoid, are dark alleys and restrooms of discos or restaurants.

Another technique the pickpockets in Bulgaria's Black Sea resorts have adopted is to use street-vendors. Thus, while the tourists are looking at souvenirs, the experienced thieves go unnoticeably through their pockets.

BGNES reports that a pickpocket in a Bulgarian sea resort can make EUR 200-300 on a "good" day.

The Bulgarian police has sent an additional 632 policemen from the interior of the country to the Black Sea coast in an attempt to counteract pickpocketing and drugs distribution.
