The Prosecutor's Office sent Tuesday a request to the Court to renew the trial against former "Kremikovtzi" CEO and CSKA Football Club President, Alexander Tomov.

The Sofia City Prosecutor, Nikolay Kokinov, based the request on the fact that he received notice from Bulgaria's Central Electoral Commission (CEC) that Tomov is not registered to run for a Parliament seat in the July 5 elections.

On May 27, the Sofia City Court postponed proceedings against Tomov because he was officially registered by CEC to run at the EP elections. The Court stated then that the CSKA President would keep his immunity until the announcement of the results of the Bulgarian general elections as he would also be running as a candidate.

Tomov is indicted for document fraud and embezzlement of over EUR 5 M from CSKA and BGN 29 M from the „Kremikovtzi" steel mill.

If proven guilty, Tomov and the other three defendants face between 10 and 20 years behind bars.
