Bulgarian New Democracy Joins Blue Coalition in MP Seats Quest

The Chair of BND, Nikolay Svinarov and the leaders of the Blue Coalition, Martin Dimitrov, Ivan Kostov and Anastasia Mozer are signing Friday an agreement to run jointly at the July 5th elections.

The Blue Coalition and the Bulgarian New Democracy will sign the agreement for joined run at the elections for Members of the Forty First National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria at the Blue Coalitions' building on "Parchevich" street in Sofia at 2:00 pm.

The information was announced by the BND press office.

The Bulgarian New Democracy (BND) party was founded in May 2008 by MPs who split from the National Movement for Stability and Progress (NMSP) party of former Tsar and former Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg.

17 NMSP members left the party after a six-month long conflict, which began during the June 2007 Congress when the NMSP split in two fractions.

4 MPs from the lawyers' group were expelled from NMSP, and the other 13 left on their own.

In December 2007, 14 the Bulgarian New Democracy Parliamentary Group became the eighth group in the 40th Bulgarian Parliament and practically the largest opposition fraction in the 40th Bulgarian Parliament.

The BND party was founded in May 2008, declared itself a center-right party, and voted on the side of the rightist opposition in the last three no-confidence vote against the three-way coalition government.

BND ran solo at the EP elections on June 7 and achieved little success - less than 1% of the vote.
