Bulgaria Blue Coalition Sends Second MEP in Fall 2009

The Bulgarian right-wing Blue Coalition will send a second Member of the European Parliament in the end of 2009.

Mihail Konstantinov form the Central Electoral Commission explained for the Bulgarian National Radio this will be possible after the Lisbon Treaty is signed.

Konstantinov said that in reference to Blue Coalition's intentions to ask for a manual recounting of the votes.

After the first counting, it appears that they are behind the National Movement for Stability and Prosperity (NMSP) with only 351 votes, he said.

"There is still no requisition for recounting, and it can be only passed by the Constitutional Court", Konstantionov explained.

"The Blue Coalition will have a second MEP after the Lisbon Treaty is signed", the newly elected MEP from the right-wing coalition, and former Foreign Minister, Nadezhda MihaylovР°, commented.

In her words, it is surprising that the Blue Coalition received 207 000 after the unfair game against it before the elections.
