Two individuals have been arrested during a police raid at an investment brokerage office in Sofia, the Interior Ministry press center reports Saturday.

Employees of the "Criminal Police" Directorate detained, during a joined operation with the policemen from "Pretrial Proceedings", 34-year-old B.D. and 64-year-old I.P.

The two are charged with trying to conclude a securities deal by using forged IDs. The fraud would have deprived the State budget of BGN 160 000.

The police began working on the case in the beginning of the year after receiving a signal for abuse in issuing compensatory instruments from municipal "Agriculture" offices and municipal directorates to businesses and individuals for upcoming transactions at the Bulgarian Stock Exchange.

The two are detained for 24 hours. The Sofia Regional Prosecutor's Office has initiated the investigation of the case.
