Pharmacies across Bulgaria have not been able to fill out National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) prescriptions Monday due to a faulty software program.

Doctors and Pharmacists announced that they can not tell which drugs have to be on the NHIF prescriptions and which should not be; therefore the current software program is useless to them.

It was also reported Monday that some pharmacies in the Bulgarian capital Sofia have not yet received the software program at all, Darik Radio informed.

The recently adopted new medical list that defines which drugs can be sold and which ones are fully paid for by the National Health Insurance Fund is very unpopular amongst Bulgarian pharmacists.

Pharmacies are also now forbidden to sell children's foods, which was one of their main incomes.
