Fire Destroys Bulgaria Socialists' Campaign Tent

The election tent of one Bulgaria's Socialist Party (BSP) top runners for becoming a Member of the European Parliament was destroyed by fire early Sunday morning.

The so-called "Red Point" has been set in the park of Sofia's "Bankya" suburb for the election campaign and Sunday event of Ilyana Yotova, who is trying to wind a seat for her second term as MEP.

The "Red Points" are light tents that store the BSP election materials such as brochures, flyers and others. The materials in the "Bankya" tent have been completely destroyed.

Reportedly, the tent was set one fire around 4:00 am in the morning by a group of young people. The firefighters were unable to contain the flames quickly enough to rescue the campaign materials.

The police have searched the location and are investigating the case.
