US Embassy in Sofia Sponsors Charitable Sports Event

The US Embassy in Bulgaria is organizing a football tournament to benefit local orphanages, the Embassy press center announced Friday.

On May 30 and 31, football (soccer) teams from throughout Sofia will compete not only for trophies, but also to raise money for orphanages in the Sofia area.

With the support of volunteers, the football tournament is scheduled to take place at Sportna Sofia football field located behind the National Football Stadium at the central Sofia park - Borisova Gradina. 

The games being 08:00 am and end at 08:00 om Saturday, and again at 08:00 am to 12:00 noon on Sunday.  Sportna Sofia is donating the use of the fields for the cause, while the US Embassy's Employee's Association is donating the trophies. 

This competition will include two teams from the US Embassy, two university student teams, various teams from the business community and other interested teams in Sofia. 

The funds, raised through the event, will be used for the benefit of the children of the various orphanages.
