The European Commission building in Brussels closed once again Wednesday over a hot water leak.

The information was reported by the EC spokesperson.

The "Berlaymont" was evacuated at 11:20 am as a preventive measure, after a serious hot water leak during water pipe repair works.

The worker, who was doing the repairs, has been injured and taken to the hospital with serious burns.

The authorities decided to close the building after the leak triggered the fire alarm.

The incident interrupted the press conference with the EC President, Jose Manuel Barroso, the Economic and Monetary Affairs Commissioner, Joaquin Almunia, and Charlie McCreevy, Internal Market and Services Commissioner. The press conference was focused on the EC proposals for reforming the financial market system.

The incident happened just days after the building reopened for business on May 25. The "Berlaymont" closed on May 18 over a fire in the basement.
