Investigators have requested an examination to measure the size of the penis of the suspect for the brutal murder of the Belneyski Sisters.

The news has been reported by the Trud Daily which cites Marin Markovski, the lawyer of the suspect, the 27-year-old Lazar Kolev - "The Gangster", who is presently in a detention facility in Sofia.

The two sisters Belneyski, aged 15 and 18, natives of the southern Bulgarian city of Pazardzhik, were murdered in the winter of 2006, and despite the various investigation procedures and experts involved, the police have not been able to provide convincing evidence.

The investigated scenarios range from road-side accident to brutal rape and then murder. Meanwhile, various rumors and reports claim the case has not been solved because of political cover-ups.

According to lawyer Markovski, the Sofia investigators want to measure Kolev's penis, and then to check if that matches with any traces from it on the bodies of the two murdered sisters.

Markovski said the investigators came up with the idea when they heard other prisoners say that Kolev's penis was unusually large.

"It is ridiculous to claim that a murderer can be proven guilty through the size of his penis. My client has refused to undergo the examination because this procedure is demeaning", Markovski told the Trud Daily.

Lazar Kolev - The Gangster was already in jail for hooliganism when he was charged with the murder of the two sisters on February 27, 2009.

The accusation is based on a DNA analysis that shows that skin particles belonging to Kolev were found under the nails of the Belneyski sisters.

Lawyer Markovski claims that the DNA analysis proved nothing as Kolev had been in numerous fights in prison, and the police could have gotten his skin particles during one of these occasions.
