UK Woman Gives Birth to Sextuplets

A woman gave birth to sextuplets overnight in a hospital in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

The four girls and two boys were born by Caesarean section. This is the first case of sextuplets being born in the UK in 26 years, The Independent has reported.

The birth that the hospital has been preparing for months, was carried out by a team of thirty doctors, and took five minutes.

This is believed to be the first case of sextuplets in Northern Ireland ever recorded. The previous UK sextuplets, six girls, were born in Liverpool in 1983.
