The Bulgarian energy tycoon, Hristo Kovachki, has predicted that his party LIDER would have one Member of the European Parliament seat after the 2009 EP Elections.

In an interview, for Novinite.com, Kovachki, who is among the richest Bulgarians, and is the informal leader of the centrist LIDER party, declared that both Bulgaria's PM Stanishev, and Sofia Mayor Borisov have failed in their governance tasks.

According to Kovachki, the LIDER (an acronym for Liberal Initiative for Democratic European Development) party was formed by persons aiming at promoting business development, and espousing an "economic patriotism".

In his words, he himself was just using his public position and influence to aid the LIDER party but could only slow down or speed up its course.

Kovachki gave his interview for Novinite.com at the founding of the Bulgarian Industrial Chamber, a brand new business association. The energy tycoon was the Chair of its initiative committee.

Kovachki said the existing Bulgarian business and industrial associations for failing to provide any sort of constructive response to the effects of the financial and economic crisis.
