The third runner-up in the 2009 Miss USA pageant, Bulgarian beauty Laura Chukanov, will do everything in her power to help her native country.
Laura, who is also Miss Utah 2009, is visiting Bulgaria and gave a special interview for Darik radio Thursday.
She spoke about her love towards Bulgaria and its people, and the things that have impressed her the most such as the beautiful nature.
Laura also pointed out some facts that have made her sad such as Sofia's dirty streets, the too many hotels on the Black Sea coast and the low voters' activity.
Laura further spoke about her childhood in the United States and the frequent moving to a new residence - her biggest difficulty as a teenager over the constant search of new friendships.
Chukanov, 22, is currently a senior majoring in international studies and minoring in leadership studies and art history. She works at US' Career Services as a peer adviser and helps students write resumes, cover letters and get involved with extracurricular activities to build their resumes.
Chukanov came to Salt Lake City, United States from Sofia, Bulgaria, when she was a 4-year-old girl. Her father is a scientist who was invited to California for research purposes. His work then brought him and his family to Utah in the early 1990s.
