Bulgaria's Chief Prosecutor, Boris Velchev, adamantly opposes the fact that a scandalous report has leaked to the media.

Just before the beginning of the Wednesday meeting of the Supreme Judiciary Council, Velchev, himself, stated he was upset about the leak of information regarding a checkup of the Sofia Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The reason for the fury is the publication of a 140-pages report, listing the violations of the Sofia Regional Prosecutor, Alexander Nalbantov, involving mostly numerous trial delays at his institution.

"I wish I had the time to read the report before the media knew about it. Such communications simply interfere with our good relations with the media. I asked all colleagues, who had access to the report, but they deny having any contacts with reporters," Velchev said.

The Chief Prosecutor added the report needed thorough and careful analysis in order to decide if the violations are Nalbantov's responsibility or just the Regional Prosecutor's Office's objective problems.
