Six legal Bulgarian workers have been arrested in the town of Scaer in Northwest France.

According to the attorney of the six Bulgarians, the reason for their arrest was a secret ordinance of the French Ministry of Immigration and Integration demanding that all Bulgarian and Romanian citizens should get a work permit every three month despite the fact they might have regular labor contracts.

The six Bulgarian workers had been hired legally from a construction firm for the restoration of the house of a local poet, the Telegram newspaper reported as cited by Darik Radio.

The lawyer of the Bulgarians points out that they had local addresses, valid Ids and valid labor contracts, and yet, they were still targeted by the French police in its efforts to identify illegal immigrants.

The Bulgarians now have to file a suit with the local court demanding that their extradition be revoked.
