Bulgaria Insurer Introduces Kidnapping Policy

Insurance against kidnapping is the newest service offered by Bulgaria's insurer "Lev Ins".

The Executive Director of the company, Stephan Sofianski, explained that there is a strong interest towards the policy from well-known personalities and corporate customers, adding the information about those, who purchase kidnapping policies will be kept confidential and classified.

The amounts determined by the policy will be used to compensate the clients or their relatives in case of abduction. The policy will cover risks such as the expenses during ransom negotiations, eventual ransom, missed profits, attorney's and consultants' fees, medical assistance.

Sofianski also said prices will vary depending on the customer and will be different for a wealthy businessman with conflict of interests and corporate clients, insuring all their employees.

Unofficial data shows that 13 000 people are abducted each year in 40 countries all over the world.
