Bulgaria Foreign Minister: Iran Can Help Europe Energy Security

Bulgarian Foreign Affairs Minister, Ivaylo Kalfin, has stated that Iran can play an important role in supplying energy to Europe.

In a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari on Tuesday, Kalfin pointed to the energy conditions in Europe and said Iran's energy capabilities could be used through its cooperation in projects.

Safari on his part said withdrawal of foreign troops from the Middle East is the only way to return peace to the area and added regional problems can not be fixed by use of force, the Iranian Students News Agency reported.

Safari also held talks with Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Radion Popov and said Iran is set for gas transfer to Europe and Bulgaria and called for employment of potentials of the two sides on transport, opening new airlines and railways.

Popov on his part said Bulgaria is ready for integration with Iran in all domains and called for more energy and gas cooperation between the two countries.

He stressed the two sides should support each other's candidacy for international organizations. The two officials also discussed close cooperation on fight against drug trafficking.
