The Central Election Commission (CEC) registered Tuesday the battered opposition right-wing "Blue Coalition" for participation in the European elections.

The parties listed in the Coalition include the Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), the United Agrarians, the Bulgarian Social-Democratic Party and the Radical-Democratic Party in Bulgaria.

The DSB leader, Ivan Kostov, and the elected, but still not registered in the Court, Chair of the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF), Martin Dimitrov, are listed as the Coalition's co-Chairs.

However, due to the court saga involving Dimitrov's registration, UDF is not listed among the Coalition's parties.

CEC registered Sunday UDF, lead by its former Chair, Plamen Yurukov, to participated as a separate, single party in the elections for Members of the European Parliament (MEP).

Yurukov, on his part, offered the Blue Coalition's MEP nominees from UDF, to be registered with his ballot, but the front runner, Nadezda Mihailova, firmly declined.

Yurukov threatened to suspend the membership of all those from UDF, who decide to play along with the "Blue Coalition." Yurukov, himself, was suspended as UDF member on May 4 by the UDF National Council. The Council, unlike the party's new leadership, is a legitimate body.

The Blue Coalition filed Monday a claim with the Supreme Administrative Court against the CEC registration of Yurukov. The decision is anticipated later Tuesday.

7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 12 is the deadline for parties and coalitions to register with CEC for participation in the European elections.
