The gas and energy supplies to Bulgaria's troubled steel mill Kremikovtzi will be cut at 2 pm Tuesday.

Tsvetan Bankov, Chairman of the creditors of Kremikovtzi, announced Monday that the planned gas cut off on Tuesday will be combined with a total energy shut down at the plant, bTV reported.

Bankov continued that the creditors of the mill expect a ‘health plan' from the owners for what will happen now to the workers from the plant and to the plant itself, however he was not clear when this plan would be made.

So far 1 200 workers of Kremikovtzi have been made redundant or made to retire in the recent months.

Currently, Bulgargaz is supplying Kremikovtzi with gas only for the basic technological maintenance of the plant, and for the operation of its furnace coke facilities.

Bulgargaz had agreed to provide gas for the furnace coke facilities since the Brazilian company CSN had expressed its interest in this production. As the negotiations with CSN have stalled, however, they will proceed with the termination of the supplies.
