The leadership of the UDF party issued an official declaration about the withdrawal of Judge Nikolay Madzharov from the case involving the party's registration.

The withdrawal clearly demonstrates the brutal pressure exerted on the justice system by the leader of the ethnic Turkish party, Movement for Rights and Freedoms, (DPS), Ahmed Dogan, the Thursday declaration of the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) claims.

UDF further declares they will notify the European Commission, the European People's Party and the Ambassadors to Bulgaria of countries members of the European Union about the attacks against the party and its democratically elected leadership.

In the mean time, Emanuil Iordanov, from the UDF leadership told Darik radio that the Sofia City Court could issue a decision regarding the legitimacy of the party's registration by Monday.

"This is a simple case, any Court can try it in two days," Iordanov said, adding the new team of magistrates could start Friday and announce the decision by the end of the day Monday.

Iordanov declined to say what measures UDF would undertake in case the registration saga is delayed beyond Monday.

The judge from the Sofia City Court who was scheduled to try the case of the UDF party's registration withdrew Thursday from participation in the trial.

Judge Madzharov is part of the team of magistrates who were supposed to reexamine the registration of UDF, Martin Dimitorv.

On April 30, Bulgaria's Supreme Cassation Court returned the case to the City Court criticizing the motives to reject Dimitrov's registration.
