The suspended ex-leader of Bulgaria's UDF party, Plamen Yurukov, has stated that no one had the right to exclude him from the party.

Yurukov, whose membership of the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) party was suspended early Monday by the party's national counsel, stated that the new UDF leader Martin Dimitrov had ruined the chances for UDF to enter the parliament in the upcoming general elections.

Yurokov said that Dimitrov's behavior over the past few months had been a masquerade that had ruined the party's future prospects. He also accused him of splitting the party and waging an unnecessary war against other members of UDF.

Yurukov concluded by questioning the UDF national counsel's reasons for suspending his membership, saying that he did not deserve how he had been treated, BGNES reported.

The scandal involving Yurukov started on April 30 when he filed documents for the UDF's solo participation in the upcoming elections with the Central Election Committee.

The new UDF leadership had decided months ago to run in coalition with the other rightist opposition party - the Democrats for Strong Bulgarian (DSB) and their leader, Ivan Kostov.

Dimitrov, the UDF unofficial leader, declared he was going to ask the UDF leadership to suspend Yurukov's party membership.
