The registration of the opposition UDF to run on their own at the Parliamentary elections is simply the latest communist plot.

The statement was made by Alexander Yordanov, member of the Leadership of the opposition, right-wing, Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) party, in a letter addressed to former party leader, Plamen Yurukov.

Yordanov's open letter, which was also sent to the media Sunday, claims that the registration is a deed of Communists, who do not wan to have a rightist majority and rule in Bulgaria's next Parliament and Cabinet.

On April 30, Yurukov filed with the Central Election Committee documents for their solo participation in the upcoming elections. Until the Sofia City Court makes their decision about the legitimacy of the registration of the party's current and elected leader, Martin Dimitrov, Yurukov is still formally the UDF leader.

Also on Thursday, Bulgaria's Supreme Cassation Court revoked the decision of the Sofia City Court denying registration of Martin Dimitrov and sent the case back for reexamination.

The new UDF leadership decided months ago to run in coalition with the other rightist opposition party - the Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) and their leader, Ivan Kostov.

Martin Dimitrov declared he was going to ask the UDF leadership on Monday to suspend Yurukov's party membership along with the one of the former Chief Party Secretary, Plamen Radonov.

In his open letter, Yordanov further states that in order to destroy UDF, the ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and the ethnic Turkish Party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) would use any means such as the latest - the UDF registration for the elections.

"Despite the issues that no political party can avoid, there has always been a limit, determining the right position. For the UDF members this has always been the attitude towards the Communism and the BSP policy as a direct successor of the Bulgarian Communist Party," Yordanov says in the letter.
