The Bulgarian Cultural Center in Rome is organizing a Bulgarian Movie Festival on May 7-9, 2009.

The festival program will included both feature films and documentaries as an exhibition of posters of Bulgarian historical movies, prontosofia.com has reported.

Some of the titles on the program include the movie "Hashove" („РҐСЉС?РѕРІРµ") based on the novel of Ivan Vazov, as well as "Dzift" by the Bulgarian director Yavor Gardev, and "The World Is Big, and Salvation Lurks around the Corner" by the Bulgarian director Stefan Komandarev, based on the novel of the German-Bulgarian writer Iliya Troyanov (Ilija Trojanow).

The Bulgarian Movie Festival in Rome is the idea of Bulgarian-Italian NGO "Phoenix", whose President, Jana Yakovleva is the founder of the Bulgarian Cultural Center in Rome.

The Festival will be realized with the cooperation of the Rome Municipality. It is part of the series of initiatives with which the Bulgarian community in Rome would like to celebrate the 130th year since the establishing of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Italy, and the 20th year since the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Admission to all events of the Bulgarian Movie Festival in Rome will be free of charge.
