Bulgaria Main Interest Rate down to 2,27% in May 2009

The Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) has determined Friday the main interest rate to be 2,27% in May 2009.

That is a 1,26 points decrease, compared to April's 3,53, and is the lowest rate since February 2006, when it was 2,25%.

BNB has half cut the main interest rate since the beginning of 2009. In January, it was 5,17%, while at the end of 2008 it was at its pick since February 11, 1998. For December 2008 the rate was set at 5,77%.
