Bulgarian company Sopharma has won the second prize in the OTC.newsflash Worldwide Marketing Award for its product Tabex, used for treatment of nicotine dependence.

The award was part of the The Nicholas Hall Awards 2009, held in Venice, Italy, that concentrates on over the counter medicines worldwide.

The Sopharma radio and TV adverts for Tabex, which is an effective product for treatment of nicotine dependence in case of serious desire for smoking cessation, were said to be the best of any such campaigns anywhere in the world.

Sopharma benefited from the fact that their product was an anti-smoking product, as most of the awards were presented to companies that were concentrating on the fight against lung cancer.

J&J McNeil were awarded first prize for marketing excellence throughout the year, with outstanding entries for Tylenol's 'Feel Better' campaign in the US, the launch of OTC Zyrtec, and Nicorette Inhalator in the UK.
