Bulgaria Interior Ministry Busts Corrupt Traffic Cops

A traffic police patrol was caught in Sofia Monday morning with two radars in their car.

The policemen, who were monitoring traffic violations on the "Botevgradsko Shosse" street, have been immediately taken off duty and are currently investigated.

The bust is part of the checkup of traffic patrols conducted overnight by Bulgaria's Interior Ministry in Sofia, Burgas, Stara Zagora, and Plovdiv.

A total of 11 patrols have been checked and several violations were established involving mostly technical equipments such as radars and DUI devices. One radar was found missing from the patrol car while the police employee on duty offered the explanation that the equipment was being repaired. The case is also under investigation.

The Interior Ministry informs that the checkups will continue and will be held all over the country.
