Psychic Earthquake Prediction Rattles Bulgaria's Haskovo

The southern Bulgarian city of Haskovo is in a state of panic due to a prediction of a devastating earthquake due to happen Easter Sunday.

The information was reported by the Bulgarian TV channel bTV.

The prediction is the work of the so-called local astrologist, Emil Leshtanski. The information continues to make headlines on the city's internet pages triggering hysteria among Haskovo's residents.

The prediction about possible devastating damages spread panic around the city in a matter of only hours by offering details not only about the location of the earthquake, but its time and strength - a 6 point magnitude on the Richter's scale.

Many are reported to have been seeking consolation within the church and from clergymen while local insurance agencies enjoyed a real "boom" in policies including the "earthquake risk."

Alarmed local residents have called bTV with pleas to check the information. In response, a team of reporters visited the Geophysics Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences where scientists confirmed that even the most modern technology cannot predict the exact time, location and magnitude of an earthquake.
