About 500 workers from the troubled Bulgarian steel mill Kremikovtzi gathered once again on a protest rally in downtown Sofia.

The rally, held in front of the Parliament building, was reported as peaceful despite the demonstrators shouting "Mafia", "Blood Suckers" and "Kremikovtzi".

The trade union representative, Vasil Yanachkov, vowed to continue the fight to salvage the mill and announced that there will be a new rally Friday.

The workers' main request is to begin an investigation of the situation at "Kremikovtzi" and punishment for those responsible for the crisis.

Two female workers, who declined to state their names, told the reporter from the Bulgarian news agency BGNES, that all shops of the mill were still functioning, but with lowered capacity, and money was still being laundered there. The workers further said that they have not received salaries since December, however, the Management recently promised to pay half of the March salaries.

The rally concluded around noon and the workers appealed to everyone to join them Friday at 9 am before the "Alexander Nevski" cathedral.
