Mel Gibson's wife, Robyn, filed Friday (April 10) for divorce from the actor, citing "irreconcilable differences."

That became clear in a spokesman short statement Monday saying it was on behalf of both husband and wife.

"Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so", the statement said.

Th 53-year-old Robyn Gibson signed her divorce petition last Thursday and her lawyer filed it with the Los Angeles County Superior Court on April 10. The court filing listed the date of separation only as "to be determined."
