The National Crisis Headquarters created over the declared waste crisis in Bulgarian capital Sofia has asked the company Novera to help deal with the crisis.

The company's contract was suspended in early March 2009 by Sofia's municipality office.

The company has the equipment and staff needed to solve the waste crisis, the spokesperson of the Headquarters, Chavdar Georgiev, explained. He added that is a temporary decision until the situation goes back to normal.

Five more companies will start working on the waste collecting in the capital, Georgiev added. In his words, there are 333 illegal dumping-ground in Sofia.

"Cleaning of illegal dumping-grounds in Sofia has already started, and "Krasno Selo" quarter will be the first area to deal with. 22 main roads in the capital will be cleaned, too", Georgiev said.

Washing of boulevards and spaces around churches will start at 22.00 Saturday. Georgiev expressed his belief that the appeal against the Crisis Headquarters would not stop its work.

"These are actions that Mayor Borisov take on his own. If we want to clean the capital and overcome the crisis, we need engage more machines and people. Obviously, Mayor Borisov does not want this to work", Georgiev commented.
