Sofia Mayor, Boyko Borisov, will appeal against Bulgaria's Council of Ministers decision to declare an emergency situation over the waste crisis.

Bulgaria's capital city council will discuss Monday whether the government's moves were in compliance with the law, Borisov explained Saturday.

"The cabinet's decision is illegal and dos not correspond with the definition of a crisis... This is an obvious attempt of PM Stanishev to cover the most outrageous deal of his ruling - giving the building of State Revenue Agency's building to be finished by Irena Krasteva and her son", the mayor said.

In his words, waste collection and cleaning in Sofia is done as planned, and 1000 tons of garbage is carried away each day.

"Passing election bills in parliament and changing election laws at the last moment is derisive for Bulgarian voters. They do not pass the bill, then sleep on it, and on the next day they pass a law that is to the prejudice of opposition... If the PM wanted to do something useful, he would have passed an election bill a year before the election's day, so everybody can prepare according to the new rules. Stanishev and Dogan are trying to get rid of the opposition", Borisov commented.
