Bulgaria M&A Market Shrinks by 72% H1 y/y

The merger and acquisition market in Bulgaria shrunk by 72 percent in the first quarter of 2009 year-upon-year due to the global financial crisis, shows a report by DealWatch, cited by Pari Daily.

Hardly 27 mergers and acquisitions were concluded in Bulgaria during the first three months of the year, their volume down by 18.2% on an annual basis. The deals were worth EUR 402.6 M.

Still experts remain upbeat and say the future is not as bleak as initially expected. The volume of deals marked an increase in March, which is a sign the market will be picking up at the end of the year, analysts comment.
