Sofia's Mayor, Boyko Borisov, has ordered the immediate dismantle of the controversial billboards displaying Hitler's portrait.

The news was reported by the Sofia City Hall press center. Borisov had further assigned the municipal "Advertisement" department to investigate the case.

According to the municipal press center, the advertising billboard displaying a huge post stamp with Hitler's portrait has been created by the advertising agency Oxygen as part of the "The Dictators" concept. The posters, which were displayed at several Sofia locations, were part of the so-called "Teaser Campaign" commissioned to the Agency by a marketing research company.

The slogan under Hitler's portrait states "They speak - you listen."

The billboard on "Bulgaria" boulevard, near the Israeli Embassy, which logged an official complaint Tuesday, has already been dismantled.

The case is not a precedent for Sofia's Mayor. He had previously ordered the removal of another controversial billboard portraying the transgender Roma pop-folk singer Azis.
