Thirty-six-year-old Yordan Yovchev has won a bronze medal for Bulgaria at the European Gymnastics Championship in Milan, Italy.

Yovchev, who is also President of the Bulgarian Gymnastics Federation, earned 15.550 points in his favorite rings event, Bulgarian National Radio reported late Sunday.

The gold medal went to Yuri van Gelder (The Netherlands) with 15.750 points and Olexander Vorobyov (Ukraine) won the silver with 15.60 points.

The judges, however, allegedly did not give Yovchev the correct points for the difficulty of his performance, which was faultless. The coach of Bulgarian team Milko Tankushev protested the mark, but even after a judges' reconsideration, the mark was confirmed.
