Alexander Tomov's property valued at thousands of BGN was frozen Tuesday by the Bulgarian Commission for Investigating Illegal Ownership.

A checkup of the so-called "Kushlev" Commission had found out that the former President of the CSKA Football Club and former Director of the troubled steel mill "Kremikovtzi", Alexander Tomov, and his wife own real estate that they could not afford only on their listed salaries.

The Commission froze the luxury family villa in the village of Studena, near Pernik and an apartment in Sofia, valued together at BGN 828,000, nine bank accounts and shares in two companies. Tomov is already indicted for embezzlement and document fraud.

Tomov said that he had received the attachment order a week ago but the news was published by the media Tuesday so that the public attention could be turned away from the fact that "Kremikovtzi" is doomed. Also Tuesday, the sole bidder for the mill's purchase, the Brazilian CSN, withdrew their interest while Bulgargaz announced they will halt gas supply to the plant over outstanding debt.

"Here is the culprit. Tomorrow they will say I drained "Kremikovtzi". This is a grand lie and I am the scape goat. There is no draining. Never in the last 20 years have I witnessed such manipulation of the public opinion, such force exerted by the Justice system under the Parliament's eyes and without any Parliamentary control. I am speaking about the State Agency for National Security and the Prosecution," Tomov stated. .

The former President of the CSKA Football Club and former steel mill Director declared he never had illegal property and illegal sources of income and always paid his taxes, adding he had numerous opportunities to transfer the ownership of the two properties, acquired in 2006, to other family members, but did not do so because the deals were perfectly legal.

Tomov believes he is subject of political repression by individuals with high public influence, who wish to discredit him in the eve of the upcoming Parliamentary elections.
