The UK Conservative Party leader, David Cameron, welcomed Thursday in London the Chair of Bulgaria's rightist opposition party "Order, Law, Justice", MP Yane Yanev.
Thus, Yanev and the independent MP Dimitar Abadzhiev, who was accompanying him, became the first Bulgarian politicians to be received by David Cameron. The Conservative Party head even demonstrated his warm welcome to Yanev by breaking the protocol and meeting him in the hall in front of his office.
Cameron has stated the UK Conservatives had been impressed with what Yanev's party had achieved in fighting corruption in Bulgaria, the BGNES news agency reported.
He has also expressed his hopes that the "Order, Law, Justice" Party will continue its campaign against the political mafia in Bulgaria.
What is more, Cameron also offered Yanev the full support of the UK Conservative Party for the coming European Elections campaign of Yanev's party.
The two leaders have agreed that the European People's Party was unable to tackle the challenges of the global financial crisis with its current program.
They also discussed the crafting of a new conservative economic plan for dealing with the crisis, which would then be realized by the future conservative group in the new European Parliament.
"My meeting with David Cameron sets a new beginning - in the first place for Bulgaria, and then for the "Order, Law, Justice" Party. This meeting is also a promise for a new type of relations between the UK and Bulgaria in the coming years", MP Yanev said after he spoke to the UK Conservative Party leader.
"We discussed the main principles of the future agreement, and agreed on specific policies regarding the global financial crisis. We also discussed the relations between the two parties. From today on we have a clear formula for the right wing, a clear formula for the democratically thinking Bulgarians", Yanev declared further.
He also stated that his party, "Order, Law, Justice", would be represented in the European Parliament together with the European conservatives, and would follow the same economic policies.
"I am leaving London more optimistic because Bulgaria already has a new friend, a true friend in the face of the future Prime Minister of Great Britain, Yanev concluded.
David Cameron has been the leader of the Conservative Party since December 2005. Public opinion polls point to him as the most likely future Prime Minister of the UK.
