If need arises Bulgaria's PM Sergey Stanishev will use foreign experts to assist in finding solutions for the country's most pressing issues.

The Prime Minister announced his idea during the official inauguration of the new reservoir in the Black Sea town of Sozopol.

Stanishev said that that the prudent fiscal policies of the Cabinet protect the country from the negative effects of the global financial crisis. The currency peg, the large fiscal reserve and the budget surplus preserve Bulgaria's economy from collapse, and despite some negative effects, the country is not forced like some others to beg the International Monetary Fund for help, according to Stanishev.

The PM further stated that he did not see anything horrible if Bulgaria begins using foreign experts to hold key positions in the State administration.

"There is nothing shameful in hiring such individuals to help us improve in the areas of the European funds absorption, the judicial reform and the establishment of a better business environment," Stanishev stated in Sozopol, cited by the Bulgarian information agency BTA.

When asked which countries he was planning to seek help from, the Premier said it depended on the analysis to be prepared by the government and of the different countries' best practices, adding his Cabinet already used such experts.

"The involvement of foreigners does not mean the Cabinet cannot deal with the issues on its own," Stanishev said.

The new Sozopol reservoir has a volume of 5,000 cubic meters. It will solve the town's water supply problem for the next ten years, according to the PM.
