The Bulgarian mobile operator Globul officially announced Friday it will launch iPhone 3G in Bulgaria on March 20.

Several Bulgarian publications informed a week ago about the upcoming official iPhone distribution by Globul at the end of March, but the operator then declined to confirm the launch.

Until now iPhone could be purchased in Bulgaria through the retail chain 2be and several internet sites, but the true iPhone offer via a mobile operator was not available.

iPhone 3G combines three products in one - a phone, widescreen iPod and internet device and is now available in over 70 countries around the world.

"True to our mission to bring high quality and innovative mobile products and services to Bulgarian consumers, Globul launches the revolutionary iPhone to Bulgarian market," Haris Kotsibos, Globul Chief Executive Officer stated Friday.

Globul is the trademark under which Cosmo Bulgaria Mobile EAD offers mobile telecommunications services in Bulgaria. The company is 100% owned by Cosmote, the operator with the widest presence in Southeast Europe. Globul along with Germanos employ more than 2,000 people in the country.
