A group of masked men have allegedly murdered and burnt down the two-storey house of Boris Vasilev, 73, in Bulgaria's capital Sofia late Tuesday. The tragic incident occurred on Aleko Konstadinov Street in the Vladaya quarter of the capital.

The first and second stories of the house were left smoldering early Wednesday. Vasilev's body was discovered upstairs and it is alleged that he was murdered before the fire was deliberately started.

Vasilev's neighbors stated; "three masked left the house minutes before it went up in flames". Vasilev who has a son and daughter was said to be a relaxed man with no conflicts with anyone in the area, BGNES reported.

Three fire engines eventually managed to put out the fire after struggling to reach the site because of the icy roads.
