The municipal councilmen from the Socialist Party are going to inform the prosecutor's office about intentional exacerbation of the waste crisis in Sofia and illegal party financing.

The decision was made during a meeting of the Executive Bureau of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and was announced by the Chair of the Sofia branch of the Party and former Economy Minister, Rumen Ovcharov.

The socialists have asked Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Sergey Stanishev, to verify all legal ways for the State to interfere with the waste crisis and to assess the environmental health conditions in the capital.

According to Ovcharov, the "improvised" actions of Sofia's Mayor, Boyko Borisov, were intended to cover up evident corruption schemes in the city's waste removal, and Borisov, led by his own goals, was frequently left stuck in ridiculous situations.

"This is the model of the hoe - when you step on it, it often hits you in the head. This is the reason why the State has to interfere and do the Mayor's job" Ovcharov said.
