"No one will oppose" the postponement of Brexit, said European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, quoted by DPA. The agency defines this comment as one of the strongest signals so far on the part of the EU that it will allow Britain to delay its exit from the union.

"Any decision to ask for more time depends on the UK, and no one in Europe will oppose it," Juncker said in an interview to be published today in the German newspaper Stuttgarter Zeitung. He noted that he had no idea how much Britain departure from the EU could possibly be postponed .

"As for Brexit, it's like going to court or on the open sea, we're in the hands of God," Juncker said.

The British Parliament has rejected the agreement agreed by Prime Minister Theresa May about Brexit. The EU refuses to renegotiate the deal, DPA recalls.

The main obstacle is the so-called. a safety mechanism to keep the border of the island of Ireland open after Brexit.

Last month, the British Parliament adopted a corrigendum that obliges the government to renegotiate the safeguard mechanism, but no progress has been made so far in the talks between London and Brussels.
