The launch of Space X Falcon 9, which brought a Taiwanese satellite into orbit in August, caused the formation of a 900-kilometer hole in the ionosphere. This is said in a study by the National University of Taiwan.

It notes that the relatively small load allowed the rocket to be launched on an almost vertical trajectory. As a result, a V-shaped circular shock wave was formed which, along with the exhaust gases from the engine, resulted in a hole in the plasma of the ionosphere with a diameter of about 900 km.

It is noted that it has remained for several hours. Scientists point out that it is the largest in the history of space launches. Such tears in the ionosphere can cause problems in the operation of GPS systems. Space X is an American company founded and run by businessman Elon Musk.
