Bulgaria is the first in Europe in increase of the number of prisoners in 2016. This is the data from the annual statistics of the European Council published today.
 
Compared to the previous year, the number of prisoners in Bulgaria in 2016 has increased by 10.8%.

Following us, 9.5% remains Turkey, which in 2016 is experienced an unsuccessful coup attempt.

Bulgaria is at the forefront of the highest average age of prisoners - 51 years with an average of about 35 in Europe.
